The Pine Falls Primary Care and Healing Centre is comprised of anew 17,500 sq. ft. addition and renovations to the basement of the existingPine Falls Hospital. The new centre will provide conventional primary carehealth services combined with First Nations traditional healing programservices. The traditional healing program area includes space for traditionalhealing ceremonies, healing/counselling rooms, family supports (includingovernight accommodations for extended family and visitors), and a kitchen forpreparing traditional foods and medicines. The design of the new addition has anon-institutional feel, projecting a sense of calm within a healing atmosphere.Formally, the structure conveys an understanding of, and respect for,Aboriginal cultural values as the new addition embraces the surroundinglandscape.
