Red Lake Heritage Centre
Red Lake, Ontario
The new Red Lake Heritage Centre consists of a historical museum, a multi-purpose gallery, an interpretive centre for Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, and a tourist information centre. The interpretive centre showcases Ontario’s Living Legacy initiative and constitutes a Legacy Landmark.
The striking design features a large glazed gallery overlooking an exterior exhibition area. The gallery features tilted laminated wood beams, structural members and a stone wall reminiscent of a mine entry shaft. The building also features a climate controlled archival room for the storage of sensitive fabric items from the collection and historic documents.
